Fresh Classic Kitchen Reveal

We are finally ready to call this kitchen renovation complete and couldn't be happier with the results! I've been able to cook a few meals, have some friends over and host one big party all with ease thanks to this space. A lot of the sources are linked in this design board post and I'll include the rest at the bottom of this post.

Here's a reminder of the before:

We added shiplap to the eat in kitchen area and love the subtle character it brings to the walls!

Some additional sources, let me know if you have questions!
Sink: Blanco Cerana Farmhouse Sink
Shelves: Custom Floating Walnut Shelves
Lantern over table: Sea Gull Perryton

We've also completed the main floor half bath update and will share that soon!

xoxo,
Amanda

  1. Wow! Your new kitchen looks amazing! I was so glad to randomly "check in" on your blog and see this new post. Your new kitchen is totally my taste and I love every thing about it. Especially the colors and farmhouse sink. It's such a funny coincidence that at one time ... I had that same red wallpaper in a previous kitchen. Do you mind telling me what color your cabinets are? They look gray but it's difficult to tell on my computer.

  2. Thank you, Michelle! That's funny about the wallpaper, must have been a hot seller! ;) So, the cabinet color is Benjamin Moore Arctic Shadows and is a warm, medium gray green. It's hard to photograph but it looks gray and/or green depending on the light, I love it! Such a warm, cozy color against the stark subway tile, sink and appliances. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks, Jason! For the shiplap look, we used thin wood boards from Lowes, ripped to about 7.5" wide. This post shows pretty much exactly what we did: http://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2016/08/how-to-add-shiplap-look-to-your-home.html?m=1

    1. Thank you! The cabinet boxes and drawers/hardware are all from IKEA and all the fronts I ordered from Semi Handmade, the quality is perfect, extremely happy with them!

  7. Hi Amanda,

Congratulations on your beautiful kitchen! I have two questions....
-What color did you paint your cabinets? I love it!
-What size sink cabinet did you use? Your sink link says that the cabinet needs to be a minimum of 33 inches and I don't see one that matches what you did.

Thank you so much for any information you can provide!

    1. Hi there! Cabinet color is Benjamin Moore Arctic Shadows. We used a 30" wide cabinet for the sink, we had to add extra support for the sink. Semihandmade did a custom height of 20" for the doors.

  8. Hello! Your kitchen is so beautiful and has inspired me to go with Ikea and Semihandmade. My major concern is with the sink. I see above that you used a 30" cabinet, but the link to the sink doesn't work any longer. Was the sink 30" too? Also, did semihandmade make you a panel to go between the sink and the dishwasher? Any advice/help would be appreciated. I don't want to order the wrong sink or cabinet. Thank you and well done!!

    1. Hi Lindsay! Thank you!! We are still really happy with our cabinets and doors and would def recommend both IKEA and semihandmade! I’ll post a new link to the same sink below but yes it is a 30” sink on a 30” cabinet. We used a 3/4” panel (I think plywood or MDF) from Home Depot and then added a trim piece on top of it painted the same color as the cabinets. I think semihandmade will do the panels for you but we knew we could get them cheaper locally and less items to pay for shipping. Good luck!! Would love to see pictures of your finished space!

  9. Lovely kitchen! Question about the island. Did you put 4 cabinet boxes together? And, did you fabricate the sides (where it looks like 2 shaker panels put together)? Or did semihandmade make them? I'm trying to figure out how to make an island out of Ikea cabinet without it looking like 4 pieces stuck together! Thanks in advance.

  10. Sorry, I meant to say 6 cabinets put together for the island, not 4?

  11. Hi! We built a base out of 2x4s and then yes, screwed the boxes together and down to the base. As long as you add the side panel, it covers the seam. You can have semihandmade make you a side panel, I forget if they offer shaker style or flant front only. We made all of our panels out of MDF and then added the frame with thinner strips of MDF. They have held up really great still! Our island is 5 cabinets +trash compactor. Good luck with yours!

  12. Looking forward to book an order of cabinets for my new office. There are a lot of rooms there and need cabinets to keep the confidental files safe.
